This is the first part of a two part lecture on Islam by Alan Shlemon. Part one discusses the differences between current portrayals of Islam and the original Islam, Muslim demographics, authoritative sources in Islam, and violence in Islam.
The second of two lectures given at a conference on 6 October 2018 at the Campus Church, Welwyn Garden City, UK. The talk considers what the Bible means when it tells us that Man was made in the image of God, and examines the personal implications of bearing such an image.
Many claim that Man is an accident of cosmology (providing a life-supporting planet), of chemistry (causing the origin of life), and of evolution ( causing Man to arise from a common ancestor shared with the great apes). This lecture offers a brief critique of these ideas and finds them wanting. The lecture is based on the book "What is Man? Adam, alien or ape?"
